Welcome to Science at Faith Primary Academy

Our Vision
We strive to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena and a love of Science, where questioning and an exploratory attitude is at the heart of learning. Through Science, we aim to give all our children some understanding of the world around them and teach them essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.
All children are encouraged to develop and use a range of skills including planning investigations, predicting how things will behave, observing, analysing results and rationally explaining the results. Speaking and listening encourages children to explore scientific vocabulary but also share and develop ideas with others. An emphasis is placed on working scientifically and we therefore, as with our other subjects, adopt a very practical approach to teaching and learning in this subject.
Science is a core subject within the National Curriculum.
The children study topics relating to the four main themes:
- Working Scientifically
- Life processes and Living things
- Materials and their properties
- Physical processes
Each topic is revisited at different levels as the children progress through the school.
