Our Vision

Intent
At Faith Primary Academy, the intent for Art & Design and Technology (DT) is to provide a rich and ambitious curriculum that inspires creativity, fosters imagination, and develops critical thinking skills among our pupils. Our curriculum is designed to ensure a progressive development of knowledge and skills in these subjects, allowing pupils to explore, experiment, and express themselves through various artistic and design processes.

We aim to instil a deep appreciation for the arts and design, nurturing a love for creativity and innovation in our pupils. By providing a broad range of experiences in both Art & DT, we strive to broaden our pupils’ cultural capital, encouraging them to engage with diverse artistic practices and design challenges.

Implementation
Our implementation strategy involves a carefully structured curriculum that systematically builds upon prior learning, ensuring continuity and progression for all pupils. We have dedicated and knowledgeable staff who deliver high-quality Art & DT education, incorporating cross-curricular links to enhance learning experiences.

In Art, pupils are encouraged to experiment with different techniques, materials, and styles, allowing them to develop their own artistic voice. They engage with the works of famous artists, architects, and designers, drawing inspiration from various cultural and historical contexts. Practical skills are taught alongside critical analysis, enabling pupils to evaluate and critically reflect on their own work and that of others.

In DT, pupils are given opportunities to design and make products through a hands-on approach. They learn about the design process, including researching, planning, prototyping, and evaluating their creations. Problem-solving and innovation are key aspects of our DT curriculum, with pupils encouraged to think creatively and develop solutions to real-world challenges.

Impact
The impact of our Art & DT curriculum is evident in the engagement, progress, and achievements of our pupils. Through regular formative assessment and feedback, we track the development of each child’s artistic and design skills, celebrating their successes and supporting their areas for improvement.

Pupils at our school demonstrate confidence and enthusiasm in expressing their creativity, showcasing a diverse range of artistic and design capabilities. They exhibit a deep understanding of various artistic movements, design principles, and practical skills, reflecting on their own work with maturity and insight.

The impact of our curriculum extends beyond the classroom, with pupils developing a lifelong appreciation for the arts and design. They are equipped with the skills and knowledge to pursue further studies in these subjects, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation that enriches not only their educational journey but also their personal growth and cultural awareness.

In conclusion, our Art & DT curriculum at Faith Primary Academy aids to inspire, challenge, and empower our pupils, nurturing a generation of creative thinkers and makers who are prepared to excel in an ever-evolving world of artistic and design possibilities.
