In Year 3, we follow the Ready, Steady Write curriculum. Throughout the year we will engage with a wide range of texts and learn new literary skills that will help us progress in our reading and writing.
The skills that we will learn include:
Apply their growing knowledge of root words, prefixes and suffixes
Develop positive attitudes to reading and understanding of what they read
Preparing poems and play scripts to read aloud
Retrieve and record information from non-fiction
Spell further homophones
Increase the legibility, consistency and quality of their handwriting
Extending the range of sentences with more than one clause by using a wider range of conjunctions
