Reception

This is where children start their exciting journey at Faith. Our priority is providing a happy, safe and inclusive environment for all of our children to enjoy coming in to everyday! We provide a broad and balanced curriculum which gives children opportunities to learn indoors and outdoors everyday.

Reception will be;

  • Learning number bonds 5, 10 and beyond.
  • Add 1 more and 1 less to number to numbers over 10.
  • Talk about 2D and 3D shapes and their properties.
  • Write full sentences using capital letters and full stops.
  • Read words containing digraphs and sentences with tricky words.
  • Look at local maps of the area.
  • Compare different types of dance and music.
  • Look closely at different life cycles.

Reception will be:

  • Exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk- learning repeated refrains.
  • Learning Set 2 sounds in Read Write Inc sessions.
  • Finding 1 more and 1 less than a given number.
  • Exploring o'clock and half past and to the hour.
  • Learning about what plants need to grow and planting their own beanstalks.
  • Exploring the Easter Story through the stages of the cross.

Reception have been;

  • Exploring measures
  • Using numicon to make number stories
  • Reading captions and CVC words
  • Using Talk for Writing actions to retell a story 
  • Following instructions and making biscuits 
  • Learning about different artists 
  • Exploring colours and colour mixing 
  • Writing numbers 1-10 
  • Ordering stories 
  • HAVING FUN!

Autumn Term

This half term we will be exploring 3 different traditional tales:

  • The Three Little Pigs
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • The Gingerbread Man

Children will be exploring numbers 1-10 and will be continuing learning their Phase 1 phonics sounds using Read Write Inc.
