Welcome back everyone after a lovely February half term. The children were so excited to share their holiday news. Miss O'Reilly is very glad to be back working with the wonderful children in Year 2. She has lots of exciting topics planned for the rest of the year as well as making sure every child reaches their full potential. She cannot do this alone, so with the help of Miss Jones and all the families involved in Year 2, we hope to finish this year on a high. Let's reach for the stars!
We have many exciting weeks ahead of us in Joy. We have made a great start already by actively preparing for our SAT's challenges in May. We will be revising the skills learned in previous months as well as practicing different styles of questions for Grammar Punctuation and Spelling, Reading and Maths. Miss O'Reilly and Miss Jones will also be keeping a close eye on our Writing this half term to make sure we are using everything we have been taught so far.
In Science and Topic we are looking into significant people who have had an impact on our lives. We have started off this topic by looking at Albert Einstein and the great discoveries he made. We hope to celebrate his birthday on the 14th March so look our for the latest news on this.
In computing we are learning how to use Microsoft Publisher which will also help with our spelling targets and word processing skills. Hopefully we can use this knowledge in the summer term to produce some interesting work for this page. Watch this space!
*** Boosters are every Tuesday and Thursday 3-4pm until further notice. Please encourage all Year 2 children to attend. The more the merrier.***
All of us in Year 2(including the adults) have made a special promise that we hope to carry out every day for the next six weeks of Lent. The children were very eager to choose promises that involved them either being kind or helping another person. They really are a lovely bunch! Here are some examples:
William- 'I will take care of my pet every day.'
Adia- 'I will offer my mum and dad a cup of tea after a busy day.'
Miss O'Reilly- ' I am going to use kind words that will encourage our school family to feel good about ourselves.'
