Welcome to Love
In maths we are learning to half and quarter objects and quantities. We will then be moving on to measurement. We will be looking at height, weight and capacity. Year one are trying really hard to become super problem solvers and mathematical reasoners. We are explaining how we found our answer and proving what we know!
In literacy have learned to tell stories with a familiar setting, from different cultures and have been writing poems about our senses. Currently we are writing information texts. Over the past few weeks we have had a dragon appear in our class garden! We are writing reports to inform people about the Liverpool Ridgeback that has been spotted!
Our topic this term is Liverpool. We are really enjoying learning all about where we live! So far we have been able to find our continent, country, city and school using maps and globes; we have looked at the different countries that make up the UK; researched and sketched some famous landmarks in Liverpool and enjoyed singing to songs by The Beatles.
On our page you will be able to see pictures and captions of just some of the exciting things we do in year one!
Notes for parents:
Please endeavour to read every night with your child, ensure they complete spelling practice/homework and keep practicing phonics!
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Corrin and Miss Collins.
